Performance of Secondary Air Injection.
It is the process where fresh air is injected into the exhaust stream to allow fuller combustion of exhaust gasses. Due to development of the technology, the amount of the emissions produced depends on the method of the air injection used, and it varies. There are two types of the air injection systems. They include the aspirated air injection system and the pumped air injection system. The latter, uses the system of the vape pump called the smog pump. It is turned by the locomotive via electric motor or a belt. A rotating screen sifts the air as it enters to eliminate the large dirt particles that can damage the system. There is a check valve that prevents the exhaust from forcing its way back to the injection system which may harm the pump and the system. The diverter valve is used to avert the unexpected and possibly harmful effects of the unstable combustion of this raw fuel.
Aspirated air injection uses the benefit of the negative pressure pulses in the exhaust system at engine idle. This system uses a reed valve assembly that is sensitive called the aspirator valve which is located in the air injection pump. Injection pump draws air directly from the clean side of the air filter. Through the operation of motor idle, periodic but short negative pressure pulses in the exhaust system. The air is drawn through the aspirator valve and into the exhaust stream at the catalytic converter. The aspirator air injection system is beneficial in the sense that is economical, less in weight, in excellent packaging and simpler equated to the pump air injection system.
There is much importance of secondary air injector that makes it remarkable. This helps to clean up the leftovers hence assisting the car in to realize government emissions standards since the law requires an engine system that does not emit harmful gases after the combustion of the fuel. The power is saved when there is slack ends, leaks, or any other unreasonable overflow. Secondary air injection can fail due to mechanical interruption or continuous use for a very long time. To regularly manage it, the owner of the vehicle needs to take the car for service annually. The system should be repaired as fast as it shows signs of not functioning. The vehicle owner should use the car for specified number of miles before and after the service to prevent the air injection systems malfunctioning .
